Gravel
Dykes, farm tracks, headwind.
There are no mountains around Bremen, but plenty of tracks nobody ever paved. The Weser dyke, the Blockland, the Wümme meadows. The gravel bike is commuter and weekend machine in one.
Running balances out the bike. No races, no plan taken too seriously. Instead, loops through the Neustadt and around the Werdersee that slowly get longer.
No gear obsession, just a few things I rely on. The kilometres come straight from Strava.

Canyon Grizl
Commuter and weekend machine in one. Rides almost every day, dyke or pavement.

BikeRadcomputer
Garmin Edge 1040
Shows route and pace on the go and sends every ride straight to Strava. That is why the numbers on this page add up.
Bike & runningSportuhr
Garmin Fenix 8
Comes along on every run, records alongside the Edge on the bike and counts the days in between. Heart rate, sleep, recovery, all in one place.
BikeSensoren · Nabe & Kurbel
Garmin Speed Sensor 2 & Trittfrequenzsensor 2
Sit on the hub and the crank and feed speed and cadence to the Edge, even when GPS struggles under trees.
BikeFrontlicht · StVZO · 900 Lumen
Lupine SL Grano
Sits centred on the stem and lights up the dyke at six in the morning. The old lamp was too dim, this one still dazzles nobody.
BikeHelm · Mips · Weiß
Van Rysel RCR-R 900 Mips
Light, well ventilated, Mips protection against rotational forces. White, so I show up on the dyke even against the light.
BikeBrille · Kategorie 3 · Weiß
Van Rysel Perf 900 UCI World Tour
Big lens, no frame in the field of view. Keeps wind, midges and gravel out of my eyes.
BikeBrille · photochrom · Kategorie 1 bis 3
Van Rysel Perf 500 Light
The glasses for early mornings and grey days: the lens tints itself with the light. On the six o'clock commute that is worth gold.
BikeGravel-Schuh · BOA
Shimano XC3
Stiff sole for power, grippy tread for the hike-a-bike bits. The BOA dial works even with gloves on.
BikeRad-Schuh · 2-Loch-Cleat · Schwarz
Adidas Velosamba
A clip-in shoe that looks like a Samba. For the commute, when you don't want to clatter through the office on cleats.
BikeSattel · Gravel
Selle Italia Novus Boost EVO Gravel Superflow
Short nose, wide cut-out, built for long days on gravel. After a hundred kilometres you notice the difference.
BikeTrägerhose · Gravel
Bioracer Icon Gravel Bibshorts
The shorts for anything over an hour in the saddle. A pad that still feels good after the dyke.
BikeTrikot · Good Friday Battle 2026
Battlefield Cyclists Tour of Honor 2026
The Battlefield Cyclists jersey for the Tour of Honor 2026. The back carries the names of those it is ridden for. Not a jersey for personal bests, one for remembering.
Running
ASICS Gel-Kayano 32
The new shoe for the long, slow loops. Plenty of cushioning, no arguments.

of roughly 800 km lifespan
Running
Adidas Supernova Solution 2
The first serious running shoe. Carried the first hundred kilometres and keeps going.

Running
Salomon Laufweste mit Soft Flask
Comes along from ten kilometres up. Water, keys, phone, nothing bounces.
Bike & runningKopfhörer · Open-Ear · Schwarz
Shokz OpenRun Pro 2
Music and podcasts on the ear, ears left open. On the bike I hear the traffic, on the run my own footsteps. Black, because it goes with everything.

1,534 km together on bike and shoes.
Apps
What I build and use.
I built TidTil myself. Plus a cycling app recommendation from another developer.
TidTil
My appiPhone·The calm family calendar
Shared and private family events at a glance, without task lists, chats or feature overload. Open it and see what's happening today. Events can be assigned to family members, including children without their own device.
An after-work loop, a new climb or just a ride to the best coffee. VeloCue lets you plan your route and find people to ride with. Free for iOS and Android.
I live in Bremen, work in industry and spend most of my free time outside when I am not sitting on a software idea. I commute by gravel bike, out before six in the morning and back in the evening. Those are the many short strokes on the map above.
At the weekend the loops get longer: out of the city, along the Weser, into the Blockland marshes. Running came later and is now a fixed part of the week. This site shows what adds up. No records, just real numbers.
On the side I build TidTil, a calm family calendar for iPhone, and take photos with a Fujifilm X-T5. But that is not what this page is about.
